Finding Home

A number of people have been asking me over the past few weeks; “How’s it going?” One tangible blessing to being asked such a question so often is that it has allowed me to crystallize my thoughts and feelings over the past several months that have brought so much change in such a short amount of time. I’m thankful that so many of you care about how I (and my family) are doing. So I’d like to take this opportunity to share some of those thoughts with you.

I’ve now been with The Dale Ministries officially for nearly 3 months. The staff along with the whole church community have welcomed me with open arms, allowed me to process the transition, and given me space to find new rhythms while putting to rest old ones. My first month was enjoyable and odd, in the sense that our merger with The Dale co-incided with the arrival of our mission teams at the start of June. I spent most of my time ministering along with our partner-teams during the month of June, which was a wonderful experience, and one that also some-what delayed my settling in to a new routine. The rest of the summer to date has seen the dust settle a little more, and as I’ve been asked “how are things?” throughout the past two months, my evolving response has led me to realize that in one real sense, I have arrived. I now see to what and to where God has been calling me and leading me to these past few years. I feel like I’ve reached my home, my neighbourhood, and that the details of my calling are rounding into form. There is of course, much that still remains unknown or unclear – does this ever end? Of course not. However, this has become a landmark moment for me on a journey of faith that is being led by our Lord. It is a time of revelation, and of increasing clarity which has led me to experience a tangible presence of God’s peace and assurance.

All this to say, I’m doing quite well, thank you! I’m so thankful for your prayerful, financial, emotional, and physical support. I could not attain to this calling without you, which is humbling, as well as pleasing to our Lord Jesus. I’m looking forward with a renewed sense of God’s presence in Parkdale and in my life.

Our church will be heading out on a retreat up north this first weekend of September. Our whole family will be going and I’m excited at the opportunities that will be afforded me to get to know some of our people in a new way.

I raise 100% of the funding needed for me to be able to work at The Dale Ministries in the Parkdale neighbourhood of Toronto. If you would like to support me financially, click this direct link to our website and designate me (Pete Nojd) as the recipient.
